Researching the company
• Location, parking. Maybe visit the gym before the interview so you know where you are going and how long it takes to get there.
• The background of the company, how they operate, how long they have been in operation, their core values and mission statement.
• What they are looking for in their staff and how long they have worked there.
• What their customers say about them: have they received good reviews or, if there are any bad reviews with an underlying issue, can you bring anything that will help this?
Documents
• Have you got a business plan to take? Even if it is just a rough idea, it is a good idea to take this with you. Make sure it is presented well and not just folded and put in a pocket.
• Do you need to take copies or your certificates (if you have not been given your certificates yet please contact our Customer Services Department on 08451 909091.
We may be able to provide you will a confirmation of qualifications letter.) Again, make sure these are in a presentation folder.

Outfit
• Make sure your outfit is clean, smart, fits well and is professional. This also goes for your gym kit as you may be asked to demonstrate a practical exercise.
Practical demonstration
• During your interview you may be asked to either put together a plan for a client or demonstrate an exercise. It’s a good idea to go over different exercises and plans so you are not caught out.
Questions
Make sure you have some questions to take with you. Here are some examples:
• What does the interviewer enjoy most about their role? How did they start their fitness career?
• How many PTs are currently working on the gym floor and on average how many PT sessions do they deliver each week?
• What is the scope for progression within the gym/company?
At the end of the interview you should ask the interviewer how they think you did or if there is anything they are unsure of. This gives you chance to get rid of any doubt the interviewer may have before you leave.
Below are some questions you may be asked. It is a good idea to think how you would answer them.
• Name three strengths and one weakness; ensure that you can always turn the weakness into a positive.
• What is your unique selling point?
• Where do you see yourself in three years’ time?
Once you have been for your interview, please contact the recruitment team to let us know how you did
